Top 9 Factors of SAT Score Improvements
Here’s another common question from moms and dads, perhaps when we meet for the first time in person - and sometimes it’s kind of awkward, almost like the parents are afraid to ask š
“… soo, how many points can our kid get if he studies… and how will you do that?”
The answer, of course, can vary. For one thing, it depends on where you’re starting. The higher your scores, theĀ harder it becomes to get more points. This is by design. The SAT isĀ designed to become harder and harder the better you get.
Another major variable is how much time you can commit. And of course there are many more factors that contribute to good SAT prep..
ButĀ I’m happy to say, with hard work and effort by kids, and a good tutor, they can easily gain 150-250 points. Some students may even find it relatively easy to gain 300 points in a couple of months of prep.
I have personally seen a few students over the years gain upwards of 600 points.Ā This would usually be after many months of SAT prep - but consider this - the scholarship moneyĀ aloneĀ repaid the cost of SAT prep and then some… and that doesn’t even begin to factor in theĀ realĀ benefit of those 600 SAT points: the increased educational and social opportunities that can come along with them.
Each of those kids had these 9 factors of successful SAT prep in abundance. You might say that these nine things represent the things great SAT prep studentsĀ have in common.
Some of the 9 factors are common sense. Others might surprise you. In any case, you’ll get a lot of value out of this comparison of their relative values when it comes to SAT score improvements.
When all’s said and done,Ā check out the chart on the left for the factors that matter most.
